Our friends Teddie and Casper from the UK have a w Our friends Teddie and Casper from the UK have a wonderful show of whiskers for Whisker Wednesday! ๐Ÿ˜บ๐Ÿ˜บ They have a lot of fun on their instagram feed @teddieandcasper. Check them out!

Did you know -> A cat's whiskers are proportionate to the width of its body (hair included); it uses them to know whether or not it can fit through narrow spaces. In general, the chubbier or fluffier a cat is, the longer its whiskers. ๐Ÿˆ

Also called โ€œvibrissaeโ€ or tactile hairs, whiskers are two to three times thicker than regular cat hair and have roots three times deeper. Those found on either side of the muzzle are called mystacial whiskers, but they also have them on their jaws, above their eyes, near the ears, and on the back of their forelegs โ€” all places a cat would need to gather information about its surroundings, including, in the wild, its prey. ๐Ÿฐ

Cats typically have 24 mystacial whiskers โ€” 12 on each cheek, arranged in four horizontal rows of three. =^..^=

If a cat uses its facial whiskers for sizing up spaces and detecting objects, then what does it use leg whiskers for? The sensory tendrils located at the back of its front legs, on the undersides of its wrists, are called carpal whiskers; they help the cat climb trees and kill prey. When they're holding a mouse, say, in their front paws, those whiskers let the cat know whether its catch is still moving (because they can't see well up close) and whether it's in a position favorable to delivering a fatal bite. ๐Ÿญ

Whiskers in action - Our friend Bunchy @bunchyandsocks caught a mouse! But bro Socksy reported Bunchy did not give it a fatal bite and the mouse was released to safer space.๐Ÿ˜ป

Any day is good day for exercise! And while this J Any day is good day for exercise! And while this Jack Russell terrier may not actually be lifting those weights, he loves to get out and enjoy the sunshine! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Does your dog get enough exercise? You might not be surprised to know that many neurotic canine behavior comes from being cooped up and bored! A healthy amount of exercise not only keeps them trim but mentally sharp. ๐Ÿ•

The best plan is to not just walk the dog, but give them different kinds of things to run and chase after. There ar hundreds of types of dog toys to fit every size dog. High energy dogs may need even more mental stimulation - creating a mini obstacle course for them could be just the thing. ๐Ÿพ

The important thing is to just do it! Get out and enjoy the time with your dog - rain or shine. ๐ŸŒ‚๐ŸŒค๏ธ
