Going to the Dogs on National Dog Day
it’s a great way to start the week off – with this nationwide recognition of our canine pet friends. This is our opportunity to show our deep appreciation for these remarkable animals and to find homes for all of the dogs (and cats) in need of a loving family. We start by bringing you the official description of the holiday:
This special day celebrates all breeds, pure and mixed, and serves to help galvanize the public to recognize the number of dogs that need to be rescued each year, either from public shelters, rescues and pure breed rescues. National Dog Day honors family dogs and dogs that work selflessly to save lives, keep us safe and bring comfort. Dogs put their lives on the line every day – for their law enforcement partner, for their blind companion, for the disabled, for our freedom and safety by detecting bombs and drugs and pulling victims of tragedy from wreckage.
Dogs have been “man’s best friend” for over 15,000 years. We rely on our wonderful canine companions to keep us safe, bring us comfort, and love us unconditionally. It is our opportunity to show our deep appreciation for these remarkable animals and to find homes for all of the dogs in need of a loving family.
Full Circle Veterinary Care is an advocate of taking care of animals in the best way possible. We support National Dog Day as an effort to bring awareness to the plight of so many homeless dogs, cats and other pets. You can use the Adopt-A-Pet search widget on our home page to view these available pets within a 10 to 25 mile radius.
